“Congratulations! Today is your day You're off to great places You're off and away" Dr Seus

Although I started this blog whilst still in Durban, time has not allowed me to continue and so it is in the boiling heat of midday on Saturday 15 January on our farm space called Inqaba just outside Calitzdorp that I begin to update my journey. And what a journey it has been.

We sold our home of 10 years, and after watching the netflix movie 'The Minimalist' tried (although not that successfully!) to decluster all our possessions. I have come to believe ,through this journey, that we are encouraged (through social media) to be collectors of things and only once we are forced through a process to rethink do we realize how many things we have that are totally unnecessary. As a result, many possesions were sold ....

and on Sunday 3 January Michael, my mother-in-law and myself and our two beautiful Jack Russels left Durban packed to the hilt! Sad, apprehensive but excited all in the same moment ...

After a fairly uneventful day of travelling we made our stop over at "Caritas Werfbederf Venue Bed and Breakfast" just before Hobhouse. Although the road needed a lot of attention between Fouriesburg and Hobhouse, we can highly recommend this venue for a stopover/stay. Artistic and simple.

We left early on Monday morning and arrived tired and weary in the late afternoon in the cooling heat of our new abode we are to call home - INQABA

We thought that we would have the next morning to sweep and tidy the house before the movers arrived but that was not to be! We woke up just after 05h00 on Wednesday morning to the sounds of a huge truck driving along our farm road - we didnt even have time to get out of our PJ's! Our movers, Sam and crew from Ebenezer were just amazing and before we knew it our home was once again full of boxes and stuff!

And so the days continued with some slight upheavals:

We had no electricity as the batteries for our solar system had not been maintained correctly so that was a big learning curve to our new off the grid experience! We ,once again, went back to camping (we'd been camping back in Durban for the past month as we had sold our stove!) and tried to maintain our sense of humour!

No need for gym - unpacking and carrying boxes on a steeeep terrain in boiling hot days of up t0 40 degrees C is not for the feint hearted - my muscles have never been quite so sore!  💪💪💪

And slowly our home transformed from dumped boxes:

    into💕

And so thats a little catchup for now. 💓💓💓
